HIST 246: Latin America: The National Period

This course examines the history of Latin America from the early nineteenth century until the present by exploring the social, political, cultural, ideological, and economic issues that surrounded the development of modern nation states. We will not attempt the impossible task of “covering” all of modern Latin American history. Instead, we will focus on revealing case studies that help us to better understand the historical trends, power dynamics, and regional diversity of the Americas. [GM2, SS] Prof. Pite
