HIST 243: Imperial Russia

This course surveys 1000 years of Russian history, from the founding of the first state in Kiev in the ninth century to the end of the Great Reforms in the nineteenth century. Students read primary documents, recent scholarship, and Russian literature in an effort to understand Russia’s old regime.
