From the October 18, 2018 Newsletter of the MACLAS (Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies):

“I attended MACLAS this year with Professor Pite. I had never been to an academic conference before MACLAS and I think it was a great first conference to attend. Because MACLAS was relatively small, I felt comfortable and welcomed despite the fact that I was an undergrad presenter. I especially liked the panels that were a mix of undergrads, graduate students and professors because I loved seeing how different topics could be looked at in depth at all academic levels. I thought I would feel intimidated asking questions, but everyone was very receptive and interested in all perspectives. Additionally, the size of the conference allowed me to meet and receive feedback on my work from so many different people, which I was not expecting. Overall, I had quite a positive experience.” -Emma Glubiak (Lafayette College)
